Vernon Parish, Louisiana – On September 22, 2022, Louisiana State Police reported that during September 2022, the Vernon Parish Sheriff’s Office (VPSO) requested the LSP Special Victim’s Unit (LSP SVU) to investigate a complaint against one of their deputies regarding computer-aided solicitation of a child. During the inquiry, it was discovered that the suspect was communicating with a juvenile by sending explicit photographs and text messages.

LSP SVU identified the suspect as 57-year-old Randy Kennedy of Leesville, Louisiana on September 21, 2022. Arrest warrants were obtained for Kennedy as a result of the investigation and information acquired. The arrest warrants were issued for computer-aided solicitation of a minor, indecent behavior with a juvenile, and malfeasance in office. Kennedy was apprehended and booked into Vernon Parish Jail.

Kennedy was employed by the Vernon Parish Sheriff’s Office at the time of his arrest. The investigation is still open and ongoing. At this time, no additional information is available.

LSP SVU aims to rescue and bring to justice victims of crimes involving child exploitation and human trafficking for sex or labor.
