Sex Offender in Louisiana Arrested for Failure to Register, Social Media Violations, and Firearms Charges
Lake Charles, Louisiana – The Calcasieu Parish Sheriff’s Office reported on May 20, 2022, that on May 17, convicted sex offender Sydney K. Pierce, 25, of Lake Charles, Louisiana was arrested by CPSO Sex Offender Unit detectives after an investigation revealed she was in violation of her sex offender registration requirements. During the investigation, detectives received information from the Lake Charles Police Department about Pierce, a convicted felon, being photographed with a firearm. Pierce had also been using social media, according to detectives.
Following further investigation, detectives discovered a gun in Pierce’s home that matched the weapon in the photograph. Pierce also had multiple social media accounts, which she failed to notify law enforcement about, putting her in violation of her sex offender registration requirements. Pierce also failed to have the necessary information about her sex offender on her social media accounts.
Pierce was arrested, charged with possession of a firearm by a convicted felon; 4 counts of registration of sex offenders; and 4 counts of notification of sex offenders and booked into the Calcasieu Correctional Center and . Judge Michael Canaday set her bond at $475,000.
Pierce was convicted of sexual assault of a child in January 2022 in Orange County, Texas.
Calcasieu Parish Sheriff’s Office Detective Cory Myers was the lead investigator on this case.
