Severe Weather in Southwest Louisiana Expected March 22
The National Weather Service indicated that a strong storm system will bring showers and storms to the region tonight, Monday, March 21, 2022, into Tuesday, March 22, 2022. Scattered showers will be possible through this evening, with additional showers as well as thunderstorms developing overnight. Activity will gradually form into a line from Northwest Louisiana to Southeast Texas late tonight into early Tuesday morning, moving east through the day. Some scattered strong to severe storms will also be possible ahead of the line. The threat of severe weather will end with the passage of the line.
For these storms the NWS in Lake Charles has issued a Severe Weather Outlook valid from 7 AM on Tuesday, March 22, 2022, to 7 AM Wednesday, March 23, 2022. The line of thunderstorms will be ongoing Tuesday morning across Southeast Texas. The line is expected to progress east through the day Tuesday, with a risk of tornadoes, large hail, and damaging winds expected. A few strong tornadoes will be possible, especially in the areas marked with an Enhanced to Moderate Risk. As for timing, the risk for severe weather is expected to be highest across Southeast Texas during the morning, with the risk shifting east to a roughly Alexandria, Louisiana to Cameron, Louisiana line by late morning or early afternoon, then further east across central Louisiana and the Acadiana region through the afternoon.
A Flood Watch is also in effect for tonight into Tuesday. The strong storm system is expected to bring an increase in showers and storms across the area tonight, with a line of strong storms expected to move through the region Tuesday during the day.
