Seven Suspects From Louisiana, and One From Texas Arrested in Connection with February 9 Homicide in Rapides Parish
Rapides Parish, Louisiana – Seven suspects from Louisiana and one from Texas have been arrested in connection with a February 9 homicide in Rapides Parish.
Authorities announced in an update from the Rapides Parish Sheriff’s Office that multiple arrests have been made in connection with the homicide that occurred on Bayou Road in Cheneyville, Louisiana on February 9, 2023.
On February 9, at around 12:39 a.m., Sheriff’s Office dispatch got a call from the Rapides 911 Center reporting “shots fired” in the 1200 block of Bayou Road, Cheneyville, Church Heights Apartments. Patrol Deputies arrived at the scene and discovered a male subject, Mathew Leary, 20, of Cheneyville, Louisiana deceased from what appeared to be a fatal gunshot wound to the head.
Deputies responded to secure the location, and Sheriff’s Detectives and the Crime Scene Unit arrived to conduct their investigation.
According to early accounts, the victim and the suspects in a vehicle got into an altercation and fled the scene before deputies arrived.
Detectives were able to identify three individuals suspected to be involved in the homicide through their comprehensive investigation, which included multiple witness interviews and the aid of the Avoyelles Parish Sheriff’s Office, Marksville Police Department, and Cottonport Police Department. Detectives were able to establish sufficient probable cause using evidence gathered at the scene and other investigative techniques, and warrants were obtained on Quantavius Jamar Richards, 27, of Alexandria, Louisiana, Aaron Demond Jones, 25, of Alexandria, Louisiana, and Diamante Swaizer, 23, of Alexandria, Louisiana.
Richards and Jones were arrested in the area and booked into the Rapides Parish Detention Center, where they are still being held. Swazier was apprehended in Porter, Texas, by the US Marshals Service Violent Offenders Task Force.
As the inquiry progressed, more suspects in the homicide were identified. Investigators were able to establish enough probable cause and obtain warrants for Obstruction of Justice, Criminal Conspiracy and Accessory after the fact were obtained on Liontraill Carneisha Williams, 20 of Marksville, Louisiana, Charlette Williams, 27 of Marksville, Louisiana, and Jolette Williams, 38 of Marrero, Louisiana.
Alyssa L Jefferson, 18 of Alexandria, Louisiana was arrested for Obstruction of Justice, Accessory after the fact and Resisting Arrest. Mardarius Tyrell Taylor, 22 of Porter, Texas was also arrested for Obstruction of Justice.
So far in this investigation Quantavius Jamar Richards, 27 of Alexandria, Louisiana, was arrested on March 1 on 1 count of Second Degree Murder, 1 count of Illegal Possession of a Firearm by a Convicted Felon, 1 count of Illegal Use of Weapon, and 1 count of Obstruction Of Justice. He is being held on a $751,000.00 bond.
Aaron Demond Jones, 25, of Alexandria, Louisiana was arrested on February 28 for 1 count of Second Degree Murder, and 1 count of Obstruction Of Justice. He is being held on a $1,093,500.00 bond
Diamante Swaizer, 23, of Alexandria, Louisiana is awaiting extradition from Texas on the charges of 1 count of Second Degree Murder, and 1 count of Obstruction Of Justice
Liontraill Carneisha Williams, 20, of Marksville, Louisiana, was arrested on March 3 on the charges of 1 count of Obstruction Of Justice, 1 count of Criminal Conspiracy, and 1 count of Accessory After The Fact, and released on a $3,500.00 bond
Charlette Williams, 27, of Marksville, Louisiana, was arrested on March 3, on the charges of 1 count of Obstruction Of Justice, 1 count of Criminal Conspiracy, and 1 count of Accessory After The Fact.
Charlette Williams remains in jail on a $3,500.00 bond.
Jolette Williams, 38, of Marrero, Louisiana was arrested on March 3, charged with 1 count of Obstruction Of Justice, 1 count of Criminal Conspiracy, and 1 count of Accessory After The Fact and has been released on a $3,500.00 bond
Alyssa L Jefferson, 18, of Alexandria, Louisiana was arrested on March 1 on the charges of 1 count of Resisting An Officer, 1 count of Obstruction Of Justice, and 1 count of Accessory After The Fact
Alyssa L Jefferson has been released on a $10,500.00 bond.
Mardarius Tyrell Taylor, 22, of Porter, Texas was arrested on March 6 and charged with Obstruction of Justice.
Mardarius Tyrell Taylor has been released on a $2,500.00 bond.
Sheriff’s Detectives indicated that the investigation into this case is still ongoing and more arrests could be made.
