Road Closure for Bridge Replacement on Beglis Parkway Near Sulphur Starting July 27, 2020

Published July 20, 2020

The Louisiana Department of Transportation and Development has announced the replacement of two bridges on LA 27 (Beglis Parkway) south of I-10 in Calcasieu Parish near Sulphur.

Each bridge will be completely closed to traffic during construction, but will not be closed simultaneously. The northernmost bridge between East Moss Lane and Sunny Wood Drive will be closed and replaced first. Work is anticipated to begin July 27, 2020, on the northernmost bridge. After the completion of the northernmost bridge, construction will begin on the southernmost bridge between Sunny Wood Drive and Ravia Road. DOTD will announce the anticipated closure date of the southernmost bridge as soon as that information becomes available.

Crews will remove the existing bridges and install new bridges, guardrails, and pavement markings. The entire project is expected to be complete in late 2020. All progress will be dependent on the weather.

Motorists may use I-10, LA 1256, and LA 108 to detour as shown in the graphic below. Maps of the bridge locations can be found below the detour map graphic. Dynamic Message Signs (DMS) will be posted on LA 27 to advise drivers of the closure and the detour.

DOTD appreciates your patience and reminds you to please drive with caution through work zones and be on the lookout for work crews and their equipment.
