Road Closure at West McNeese Street and Nelson Road Intersection in Lake Charles Starting June 10
Lake Charles, Louisiana – Starting on June 10, there will be a road closure at the intersection of West McNeese Street and Nelson Road in Lake Charles, Louisiana.
West McNeese Street in Lake Charles, Louisiana is about to undergo some much-needed intersection modifications. The project will affect traffic on June 10th and 11th of 2023 at the Nelson Road intersection, as announced by the Lake Charles Police Department (LCPD) and the Louisiana Department of Transportation and Development (LADOTD).
On Saturday, June 10th, West McNeese Street at its intersection with LA 1138-2 (Nelson Road) 500 feet east will be closed from 6 a.m. to 5 p.m. On Sunday, June 11th, West McNeese Street at the Nelson Road intersection, located just 500 feet west of LA 1138-2, will also be closed during these hours.
During this time access to these sections of West McNeese Street will be prohibited. However, detour routes are available via local streets and state routes such as LA 1138-2 (Nelson Road), LA384 (Country Club Road), LA385 (Ryan Street), and Interstate210.
The reason for the temporary closure is so crews can install new pavement markings along this section of the roadway. This joint project between DOTD and the City of Lake Charles is necessary for road safety purposes.
LADOTD and LCPD are asking drivers to plan ahead if they intend to travel through this area on that weekend because they may experience some delays or need to find an alternative route.
