Results Released for July DWI Checkpoint in Lake Charles

Lake Charles, Louisiana – On July 25, 2022, the Calcasieu Parish Sheriff’s Office reported that on Friday, July 22 CPSO conducted a DWI checkpoint at 2903 Opelousas Street in Lake Charles, Louisiana, to target individuals driving under the influence of alcohol or narcotics.

According to the Calcasieu Parish Sheriff’s Office, two hundred and sixty vehicles were checked; eight field sobriety tests were administered; fifteen citations were issued for no seatbelt; two citations were issued for no driver’s license; three citations were issued for expired motor vehicle inspection sticker; three citations were issued for driving under suspension; two citations were issued for no insurance; five citations were issued for open container, and one citation was issued for obedience to traffic controls.

The following individual was booked into the Calcasieu Correctional Center:

  • Frankie Thomas, 39, of Lake Charles, Louisiana, was arrested for obedience to traffic controls; DWI 1st; possession of CDS II (PCP)

The following individuals were issued a signed summons and released:

  • Latheris Thomas, 38, of Lake Charles, Louisiana, was arrested for open container; driving under suspension; DWI 1st
  • Ricky Lafleur, 50, of Lake Charles, Louisiana, was arrested for open container; driving under suspension; DWI 1st
  • Eric Leblanc, 44, of Lake Charles, Louisiana, was arrested for no seatbelt; driving under suspension; DWI 1st
  • Victor Vallaire. 28, of Lake Charles, Louisiana, was arrested for no seatbelt; open container; DWI 1st
  • Charles Cole, 42, of Lake Charles, Louisiana, was arrested for no seatbelt; open container; DWI 1st

The Calcasieu Parish Sheriff’s Office and the Lake Charles Police Department took part in the checkpoint.

An arrest is an indication that probable cause exists to believe the subject was involved in the offense alleged. A person is innocent until proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt.
