Results for December 30 DWI Checkpoint Released by Calcasieu Parish Sheriff’s Office

Westlake, Louisiana – On January 3, 2023, the Calcasieu Parish Sheriff’s Office reported that on Friday, December 30, 2022, the CPSO conducted a DWI checkpoint at 3104 Westwood Road in Westlake to target individuals driving under the influence of alcohol or narcotics. Results of the DWI checkpoint have been released.

Seven hundred and fifty-four vehicles were checked; one citation was issued for no seatbelt; five citations were issued for expired motor vehicle inspection sticker; one citation was issued for driving under suspension; one citation was issued for expired driver’s license; and four citations were issued for open container.

The following individuals were issued a signed summons and released:

  • Jesus Pizano-Sanchez, 42, Lubbock, TX, DWI 1st; open container; and expired driver’s license
  • Crystal D. Lewis, 42, Westlake, DWI 1st; and driving under suspension
  • Ethan M. Mellard, 21, Houston, TX, DWI 1st; and open container
  • Roy J. Smith, 53, Lake Charles, DWI 2nd; and driving under suspension
  • Brandon C. Champagne, 39, Ragley, possession of marijuana 1st offense
  • Vincent G. Charles, 18, Grant, possession of marijuana 1st offense
  • Tiara L. Malvo, 25, Lake Charles, possession of marijuana 1st offense; possession of CDS in presence of a juvenile; and expired MVI
  • Rashawn D. Sonnier, 24, Lake Charles, possession of marijuana 1st offense
  • Jordanne Cresswell, 26, Lake Charles, possession of marijuana 1st offense; and possession of drug paraphernalia
  • Heather Harington, 35, Hornbeck, DWI 1st

Participating in the checkpoint were the Calcasieu Parish Sheriff’s Office and the Lake Charles Police Department. The checkpoint was sponsored by the Louisiana Highway Safety Commission during the national crackdown on drunk driving campaign, “Drive Sober or Get Pulled Over”.

An arrest is an indication that probable cause exists to believe the subject was involved in the offense alleged. A person is innocent until proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt.
