Restore LA Homeowner Assistance Program Coming to Lake Charles on September 13, and September 14
Restore LA Homeowner Assistance Program Coming to Lake Charles on September 13, and September 14
Lake Charles, Louisiana – The City of Lake Charles announced on September 7, 2022, that the Restore LA Homeowner Assistance Program will be in Lake Charles on Tuesday, September 13, and Wednesday, September 14 at the Lake Charles Civic Center to provide on-site support for homeowners who need assistance in completing the program survey and application.
The state is currently waiting for HUD to finalize and execute the grant agreement for the initial funding allocation of $600 million for Hurricanes Laura and Delta, which will establish a line of credit for Louisiana and make funding available to Lake Charles residents who have been waiting for help. Furthermore, the state is awaiting HUD approval of the updated action plan before spending an additional $450 million for Hurricanes Laura and Delta, increasing the total for these two storms to more than $1 billion. With approval, the state will be able to implement the second grant agreement, which will enable access to all recovery monies for Hurricanes Laura and Delta, as well as Hurricane Ida, the May 2021 Severe Storm.
In anticipation of receiving these federal monies, the Restore Louisiana program encourages homeowners who may be eligible for assistance to fill out the Restore Louisiana Homeowner Assistance Program survey. The program has already begun encouraging qualified homeowners in the Lake Charles area to submit the full application so that when the state receives allocated cash, the program can immediately begin building for houses damaged by Hurricanes Laura and Delta.
The program has contacted homeowners personally, urging them to come to the Civic Center for assistance in completing a survey or application, but this reminder was issued to make you aware of their existence and purpose.
