December 5, 2022 Update:
On Monday, December 5, 2022, at 11:00 AM the Sabine Parish Sheriff’s Office reported that Zwolle Police Officers arrested Kobe Cartinez in an investigation of an altercation that occurred at “The Border” lounge Friday night.
Cartinez is currently being booked into the Sabine Parish Detention Center for Second Degree Battery.
His bond is pending at this time by the 11th Judicial District Court.

Sabine Parish, Louisiana – A reserve sheriff’s deputy in Louisiana and another man have been arrested in relation to a bar altercation that resulted in severe injuries to one individual.
Sabine Parish Sheriff Aaron Mitchell reported an altercation that occurred early Saturday morning, December 3, 2022, at “The Border” lounge in the City of Zwolle, Louisiana. An altercation reportedly broke out inside the bar at 1 a.m. Saturday morning, then moved outside of the establishment.
Officers from the Zwolle Police Department and Sabine Parish Sheriff’s Deputies responded. Officers identified Bobby Parrie Jr., Dustin Cartinez, and Payton Lindsey as participants in the altercation. In this confrontation, Parrie Jr was seriously injured and was later transferred to a Shreveport hospital, where he is still being treated.
Added December 16, 2022 – A family member of Bobby Parrie Jr. contacted us on December 16, and indicated that it was not a fight and Bobby did not participate. The family member went on to say that Bobby Parrie Jr. never threw a punch or acted aggressively toward the other individuals, and was a victim of aggravated assault.
The Zwolle Police Department is in charge of the investigation in this matter. At this moment, more arrests and charges are pending. Cartinez is a Sheriff’s Office commissioned, volunteer Reserve Deputy who was not on duty at the time of the event. This commission authorized Cartinez to use his marine craft to assist with many drownings in Toledo Bend Lake. Cartinez also worked as a full-time corrections officer under a previous Sheriff’s administration.
Dustin Dewitt Cartinez, 39, of Many, Louisiana, was arrested and booked into the Sabine Parish Detention Center on charges of Second Degree Battery.
Payton E Lindsey, 24, of Zwolle, Louisiana, was arrested and booked into the Sabine Parish Women’s Jail on a charge of Second Degree Battery.
The 11th Judicial District Court set Cartinez and Lindsey’s bonds at $8000 each, and they both bonded.
Cartinez’s status as a commissioned Reserve Deputy with the Sheriff’s Office has been suspended, according to Sheriff Mitchell.
An arrest is an indication that probable cause exists to believe the subject was involved in the offense alleged. A person is innocent until proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt.
