Vinton, Louisiana – In February 2023, detectives from the Special Victims Unit of the Calcasieu Parish Sheriff’s Office received a complaint regarding Paul G. Broussard, a 54-year-old convicted sex offender from Vinton, who was accused of raping a woman.
The victim informed detectives that Broussard had forced her into having sexual intercourse with him on two different occasions, beginning in 2021. After completing their investigation, the detectives handed over their findings to the Calcasieu Parish District Attorney’s Office. Subsequently, the CPDAO pressed charges and Broussard was arrested on December 6 and taken to the Calcasieu Correctional Center where he was charged with 3rd degree rape. His bond was set at $300,000 by Judge Tony Fazzio.
Broussard had previously been convicted of sexual battery in 2010 and failure to register as a sex offender in 2015 within Calcasieu Parish. Detective Cory Myers from the CPSO Special Victims Unit is leading the investigation in this case.
An arrest is an indication that probable cause exists to believe the subject was involved in the offense alleged. All persons are presumed innocent until proven guilty.
