Registered Sex Offender and Murder Suspect Arrested in Separate Incidents in Operation in Louisiana

From Louisiana State Police – On December 18, 2019, Louisiana State Police CID Detectives – New Orleans Field Office partnered with US Marshals in Operation “A December to Remember”, aimed at targeting non-compliant convicted sex offenders. During this Operation, Detectives located 36-year-old Mitchell Marks of Shreveport, LA. Marks is a convicted sex offender who was wanted by the Caddo Parish Sheriff’s Office on charges of failure to register. Marks was also wanted by Louisiana Probation & Parole for a parole violation. Detectives with the assistance of US Marshals, located Marks near his undocumented home in New Orleans. At the time of his apprehension, Marks was found to be in illegal possession of a stolen firearm. Marks was arrested without incident and booked at the Orleans Parish Justice Center for two confirmed warrants and LRS 14:95.1, Possession of a firearm by a convicted felon, LRS 14:95, Carrying a Concealed Firearm, LRS 14:69.1 Possession of a Stolen Firearm, and LRS 15:541.1.4 Defacing a Sex Offender Identification Card.

Troopers with Louisiana State Police Troop “N” also made a significant arrest and seizure last night, one being the arrest of 45-year-old Henry Harris for an outstanding warrant from Orleans Parish for the charge of Attempted First Degree Murder. Troopers were initially flagged down as individuals had Harris detained after an attempted theft. Through investigative measures, Troopers learned Harris’ identity and placed him under arrest without any further incident.
Troop N Troopers also seized (2) stolen firearms in furtherance of an on-going investigation which originated on Bourbon Street and resulted in short vehicle chase and foot pursuit.
