Sulphur High School Student Arrested for Alleged Threat

Sulphur, LA – According to the Calcasieu Parish Sheriff’s Office, on September 22, 2021, at approximately 3:30 p.m. CPSO was notified in reference to a possible threat from a student that attends Sulphur High School.
Calcasieu Parish Sheriff’s Office said that during the initial investigation, detectives were advised a 15-year-old juvenile told another student not to go to school the following day. CPSO Detectives were further advised the boy stated he had an “item” to bring to school. When questioned on what the “item” was detectives were advised the boy made a gun signal with his hands. Detectives located the boy at his residence and after speaking with him he was arrested and booked into the Juvenile Detention Center and charged with terrorizing.
CPSO Detective Cody Ferguson is the lead investigator on the case.
Sheriff Tony Mancuso wants to remind parents and students to download the Closewatch Calcasieu App, where you can anonymously report a tip about something suspicious you have seen or heard at school. In addition to reporting suspicious activity at school, you can also report a tip in reference to suspicious activity within the parish.

Sulphur, LA – During the morning of Thursday, September 23, 2021, the Calcasieu Parish School Board reported that they are aware of a situation involving potentially threatening behavior towards the Sulphur High Main Campus. CPSB said that this situation is being taken very seriously and is being fully investigated by both the School Board and the Calcasieu Parish Sheriff’s Office. The school board went on to say that the safety of faculty, staff, and students will always be their number one priority. They want to assure parents and guardians that their campuses are safe places for students, and that will always be their primary focus.
The Calcasieu Parish School Board indicated that due to this being an ongoing investigation, they are unable to release additional details at this time.
An arrest is an indication that probable cause exists to believe the subject was involved in the offense alleged. A person is innocent until proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt.
