Possibility of Severe Weather in SWLA January 19 with Much Colder Weather January 20-23

The National Weather Service in Lake Charles is predicting the possibility of a severe weather threat tomorrow night and winter weather through the weekend.

  • Thursday 1/20 – The current forecast predicts a 20 percent chance of showers in the afternoon, with highs in the mid-40s, and north winds 10 to 15 mph with gusts to around 30 mph. Thursday night is predicted to be colder, mostly cloudy, with a chance of light freezing rain, light sleet and slight chance of showers in the evening, then a slight chance of light freezing rain, snow showers, and light sleet after midnight. Lows will be in the mid-20s with wind chill readings between 17 and 27.
  • Friday 1/21 – Partly sunny in the morning then clearing. Highs in the lower 40s. Wind chills between 16 and 26 in the morning. Mostly clear at night with lows in the lower 20s and wind chills ranging from 17 to 27 degrees.
  • Saturday 1/22 – Sunny with highs in the upper 40s and a wind chill dipping down between 16 to 26 degrees in the morning. Saturday night will be partly cloudy with lows in the upper 20s.
  • Sunday 1/23 – Mostly sunny with highs in the mid-50s. Sunday night is forecast to be partly cloudy with lows in the mid-30s.
