Police in Louisiana Suspect Impairment in October 17 Fatal Motorcycle Crash on LA 1

Louisiana – According to Louisiana State Police, on October 17, 2022, just after midnight, LSP Troop C was notified of a fatal motorcycle crash on Louisiana Highway 1 just south of the Valentine Bridge. Destyn Allinson, 26, of Cut Off, Louisiana, was killed in the crash.

The preliminary investigation found that Allinson was riding a 2014 Harley-Davidson motorbike south on LA Hwy 1 while in a curve. Allinson went off the road to the right for unknown reasons, collided with a tree, and was ejected.

Allinson, who was wearing a DOT-approved helmet, died at the scene from his injuries.
Authorities indicated that impairment is thought to be a factor in this collision. A standard toxicological sample was collected and analyzed as part of the investigation. This crash is still being investigated.

Impaired drivers are responsible for nearly half of all fatal crashes in Louisiana. Alcohol and other substances have an impact on your vision, fine motor abilities, and reaction times. Before drinking any alcohol or drugs, drivers should make a plan for a safe ride home, because if you feel different, you drive differently.

So far in 2022, Troop C has investigated 40 fatal crashes that resulted in 44 deaths.
