On July 5, 2021, at approximately 11:30 pm, there were reports that a pedestrian had been struck by a train near the North Claiborne Street railroad crossing in Sulphur. Later, authorities indicated that a woman had been struck and killed by a westbound train near the North Crocker Street railroad crossing in Sulphur.
The woman involved has been identified as Destiny Denton.
