Pedestrian Killed in Morning Crash While Crossing LA 30 in Baton Rouge
Baton Rouge, Louisiana – A pedestrian was killed in a morning crash while crossing LA 30 in Baton Rouge.
Troopers with Troop A began investigating a single-vehicle incident involving a pedestrian on LA 30 at Ben Hur Road in East Baton Rouge Parish on June 21, 2023, soon after 5:30 a.m., according to Louisiana State Police (LSP). Quentin Brown, 41, of Baton Rouge, Louisiana, was killed in the crash.
According to preliminary investigations, a 2016 Dodge Charger was driving north on LA 30. Brown reportedly walked across the lane of travel and was struck by the Charger for unknown reasons. Furthermore, Brown was dressed in dark attire at the time of the crash.
Brown died as a result of his injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene. The Charger’s driver was properly restrained and unharmed. A toxicological sample was acquired from the pedestrian and driver as part of the continuing inquiry and will be analyzed. This crash is still being investigated.
Troopers advise pedestrians to keep a high level of vigilance when walking near the road. Basic precautions like wearing reflective materials, avoiding distractions, and walking a safe distance away from travel lanes while facing oncoming vehicles could help prevent many pedestrian-related crashes.
