Pedestrian in Louisiana Killed in Hit-and-Run Crash on LA 347, State Police Asking for Help Identifying Driver in Crash
St. Martin Parish, Louisiana – A pedestrian in Louisiana has been killed in a hit-and-run crash on LA 347. State police are now asking for help identifying the driver in the crash.
On March 13, 2023, Louisiana State Police (LSP) stated that Troopers from LSP Troop I were notified of a hit-and-run crash on Louisiana Highway 347 near Delcambre Road in St. Martin Parish soon before 3:00 a.m. on March 11, 2023. Denferd Paul Puckett, Jr., 35, of Duson, Louisiana, was killed in the crash.
According to the preliminary investigation conducted by Louisiana State Police, Puckett was lying in the roadway of LA 347 when he was struck by an unknown vehicle. The mystery vehicle departed the area after the crash.
The St. Martin Parish Coroner’s Office pronounced Puckett dead. Puckett’s impairment is unknown at this time, however, a standard toxicological sample was submitted for investigation. This crash is still being investigated.
Troopers ask that anybody with information call Louisiana State Police Troop I at (337) 262-5880 or their local law enforcement agency. LSP indicated that no piece of information should be regarded as irrelevant.
Since the beginning of 2023, Troop I has investigated 14 fatal crashes resulting in 16 deaths.
