Pedestrian in Louisiana Killed in 1 am Crash on LA 935 in Ascension Parish
Ascension Parish, Louisiana – A pedestrian in Louisiana was killed in a 1 am crash on LA 935 in Ascension Parish.
On July 24, 2023, just after 1 am, troopers from Louisiana State Police Troop A started a probe into a single-vehicle collision involving a pedestrian on LA 935 close to Roddy Road in Ascension Parish. Tragically, the crash resulted in the death of 41-year-old Sarah Berteau from St. Amant, Louisiana.
The initial probe uncovered that a 2015 Dodge Dart was moving in an eastward direction on LA 935. For unknown reasons, Berteau had been walking in the same direction on LA 935 when she was hit from the back by the Dodge. LSP indicated that Berteau was clothed in dark colors at the time of the collision.
Berteau suffered deadly injuries and was declared dead at the scene. The driver of the Dodge, who was appropriately restrained, only sustained minor injuries from the crash. No impairment is suspected for the Dodge driver while it’s uncertain for Berteau. Routine toxicology samples were collected from both individuals for testing. Both accidents are still being investigated.
