One was Shot and Killed and Another Transported to the Hospital After Altercation on May 23 in Baton Rouge

Baton Rouge, Louisiana – On May 23 in Baton Rouge, one person was shot and killed and another was transported to the hospital after an altercation.

On May 24, 2023, Capital Region Crimestoppers and the Baton Rouge Police Department in Louisiana reported that Homicide Detectives are investigating the shooting death of Christopher Jackson, 35, in the 4600 block of Wilmot St. during the afternoon of May 23 at 3:30 p.m.

Jackson was shot during a physical altercation with a male subject, according to authorities. Jackson died at the scene and the other male was taken to a local hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

Officials stated that the inquiry is underway. Anybody with information on this shooting fatality is asked to call the Violent Crimes Unit at (225) 389-4869 or Crime Stoppers at (225) 344-7867.

All persons are presumed innocent until proven guilty.
