One Suspect Arrested and One Cited After Police Find Drugs and Firearms During Traffic Stop in Jeff Davis Parish

Jeff Davis Parish, Louisiana – One suspect was arrested, and one cited after police found drugs and firearms during a traffic stop in Jeff Davis Parish.

The Jeff Davis Parish Sheriff’s Office reported that on June 15, 2023, deputies on routine patrol north on Highway 99 noticed a black Infiniti with a shattered back glass crossing the center line twice.

Authorities stopped the vehicle and identified the driver as Gawain Paul Cezar, 22, of Oakdale, Louisiana, and the passenger as Alcide Joseph Senegal, 20, of Tolleson, Arizona.

The scent of burning marijuana emanating from the vehicle was allegedly detected by deputies. Authorities reportedly discovered marijuana in the passenger’s pants pocket and marijuana in the vehicle’s center console.

Deputies discovered a handgun magazine and a rifle magazine under the passenger seat, as well as a digital scale in the door compartment. Deputies discovered a Sig Sauer M400 rifle in the trunk.

Cezar was arrested for Possession of Marijuana Exceeding 14 Grams and Possession of a Firearm in the Presence of CDS. Cezar was additionally cited for Obstruction of the Driver’s View, Improper Lane Usage, and Driving Under Suspension. Cezar was then taken to the Jefferson Davis Parish Jail to be booked

Senegal was arrested and sent to the Jefferson Davis Parish Jail, where he was charged with Possession of Marijuana less than 14 grams and released on a summons.

An arrest is an indication that probable cause exists to believe the subject was involved in the offense alleged. All persons are presumed innocent until proven guilty.
