One Louisiana Driver is Dead and Another Has Been Arrested in Morning Two-Vehicle Crash on LA 308

Louisiana – On October 23, 2022, Louisiana State Police reported that just before 5:00 a.m., LSP Troop C was notified of a two-vehicle fatal crash on Louisiana Highway 308 near Orchid Street. Juana Ramos, 64, of Metairie, Louisiana, died in the crash.

Ramos was driving a 2002 Chevrolet Suburban south on LA Highway 308. At the same moment, a 2018 RAM 1500 driven by Jody Deville Jr. of Plaquemine was heading north. Ramos crossed the centerline and struck the RAM for unknown reasons. Both drivers were restrained at the time of the accident. Ramos died at the scene after suffering fatal injuries. Deville was sent to a nearby hospital with minor injuries.

Ramos’s impairment is unknown at this moment. During the investigation, Troopers discovered Deville was impaired at the time of the incident and arrested him for DWI 1st offense. A toxicological sample was collected from both drivers and submitted for testing. This accident is still being investigated.

Motorists should always make good decisions when driving by respecting all traffic laws and never driving while tired or distracted. All motorists on the road should never drive while impaired. So far in 2022, Troop C has investigated 42 fatal crashes, resulting in 46 deaths.
