One From Louisiana and One From Texas Arrested Suspected of Attempting to Steal a Tractor and Other Crimes

Jeff Davis Parish, Louisiana – One Man from Louisiana and one from Texas have been arrested and are suspected of attempting to steal a tractor and other crimes.

The Jeff Davis Parish Sheriff’s Office reported on April 18, 2023, that on April 17, Deputies traveling on Highway 383 in the 22000 Block of Highway 383 noticed a white Toyota Tacoma with a Texas license plate.

Authorities reported that many residential burglaries have happened at a residence in the area in recent months. Deputies approaching the vehicle noticed two individuals emerge from the East tree line.

Benjamin Ware, 52, of Kinder, Louisiana, and Kean Navuth, 39, of Orange, Texas, were identified as the men.

A green Yanmar tractor that had been reported stolen in prior theft reports was stuck in the woods. The battery was missing, and the two males were reportedly carrying it.

Ware was arrested and booked for criminal trespass and attempted unauthorized use of a movable.

Navuth was charged with criminal trespass, unauthorized use of a movable, possession of CDS IV, and Theft.

An arrest is an indication that probable cause exists to believe the subject was involved in the offense alleged. A person is presumed innocent until proven guilty.
