One Driver in Louisiana Killed and Another Walks Away Unharmed in 2-Vehicle Head-on Crash on LA 191

Sabine Parish, Louisiana – In Louisiana, one driver was killed and another driver walked away unharmed after a two-vehicle head-on crash on LA 191.

Louisiana State Police (LSP) stated on May 8, 2023, that on May 7, 2023, at about 4:30 p.m., Troopers from Troop E responded to a two-vehicle crash on Louisiana Highway 191 north of Louisiana Highway 392. Shawna Crochet, 32, of Florien, Louisiana, was killed in the crash.

According to LSP reports, the initial investigation found that Crochet was driving a 2019 Volkswagen northbound on Louisiana Highway 191. The Volkswagen crossed the centerlines into the southbound travel lane for unknown reasons and crashed head-on with a 2021 Chevy Silverado.

Crochet, who was restrained, died as a result of injuries sustained in the crash and was pronounced dead at the scene. The Silverado’s juvenile driver, who was also restrained, suffered no injuries. Routine toxicological samples were collected and analyzed.

While the reason for this crash is still being investigated, LSP indicated that distracted and inattentive driving remains a significant cause of crashes in our state. Louisiana State Police advises all motorists to drive cautiously. A failure in judgment can have fatal repercussions.

Troopers with Troop E have investigated 20 fatal crashes so far in 2023, resulting in 23 fatalities.
