One Dead, Five Injured in Head-on Crash West of Sulphur on Highway 90

Sulphur, Louisiana – A head-on collision on Highway 90 west of Sulphur resulted in one fatality and multiple injuries on January 4th, 2025. The incident occurred at approximately 6:30 PM in the 2800 block of the highway, prompting a substantial emergency response.

The Houston River Fire Department deployed multiple units to the scene, including Engine 2, Ladder 1, Service Unit 2, HR91 Command vehicle, and two utility units. The response effort was bolstered by three Acadian Ambulance units and State Police presence. The Chief of Ward 5 Fire Department, who happened to be in the vicinity, provided additional assistance with rescue operations.

First responders worked to assist the crash victims, with Acadian Ambulance transporting five individuals to local hospitals. These patients sustained injuries ranging from minor to moderate severity. Unfortunately, one occupant was pronounced deceased at the scene.

The crash resulted in a significant traffic disruption, with Highway 90 remaining closed for nearly an hour and twenty minutes. Authorities reopened the roadway to normal traffic flow at approximately 7:50 PM.

State Police are conducting an ongoing investigation into the circumstances that led to the collision. Further details regarding the cause of the crash and the identities of those involved are pending official release.
