Old Lakefront Harrah’s Property to be A New Children’s Museum and Wildlife and Fisheries Science Center

Lake Charles Memorial Health System announced on November 15, 2018, that they will be entering a public-private partnership called Port Wonder to build a new Children’s Museum and a Wildlife and Fisheries Science Center on the old Harrah’s property near I-10 in Lake Charles. The property has been a vacant eyesore for over ten years since Hurricane Rita damaged the Harrah’s riverboat casino and hotel in September of 2005.
