Officer and Suspect in Louisiana in Critical Condition After Disturbance at Shopping Center in Denham Springs

Livingston Parish, Louisiana – An officer and a suspect in Louisiana are in critical condition after a disturbance at a shopping center in Denham Springs.

On May 11, 2023, Chief Walker of the Denham Springs Police Department (DSPD) reported that officers responded to a disturbance in the shopping center near I12 at around 4 pm.

When Denham Springs officers arrived on the scene, they were met with gunfire, and one officer was hit multiple times.

At the time this was published, the officer was at a local hospital with critical injuries. The Denham Springs Police Department is asking that anyone with information withhold from identifying the officer at this time.

Chief Walker also asked for prayers for this officer and all of the first responders working the scene.

According to reports from authorities, the suspect fled that scene and traveled towards Hwy 190 on South Range where deputies with the Livingston Parish Sheriff’s Office (LPSO) responded.

The suspect was shot and is listed in critical condition at this hour.

Authorities said that they appreciate all the agencies for responding and assisting including DSPD, LPSO, DS Marshal, EBRSO, ATF, DSFD, and LSP.

All persons are presumed innocent until proven guilty.
