Lake Charles, Louisiana – A recent social media post sparked rumors of illegal migrants being bussed into Southwest Louisiana, particularly in the Lake Charles area. However, Lake Charles Mayor Nic Hunter and local law enforcement agencies have addressed these claims, stating that there is no evidence to support these allegations.

According to Mayor Hunter, law enforcement in Lake Charles has not received any intelligence suggesting that illegal aliens are being bussed into the area. The mayor emphasized that if anyone has information or evidence regarding suspicious activity, they should report it to the authorities.

To facilitate reporting, the Lake Charles Police Department (LCPD) and Calcasieu Parish Sheriff’s Office (CPSO) have provided multiple channels for citizens to report non-emergency issues or suspicious behavior. These include:

  • Dialing 911 in case of an emergency
  • Contacting the LCPD non-emergency line at 337-491-1311
  • Reaching out to the Mayor’s action line at [email protected] or 337-491-1346
  • Using the Lake Charles PD app or Close Watch Calcasieu app to submit anonymous tips

In a joint statement, LCPD Chief Shawn Caldwell and CPSO Sheriff Stitch Guillory assured the public that they are aware of the social media post and have not received any calls for service related to the alleged bus. They encouraged citizens to report any suspicious activity in their neighborhoods and reminded them that both agencies offer free smartphone apps for anonymous tip submission.

Chief Caldwell further emphasized that the LCPD has no evidence of illegal aliens being bussed into and dropped off in Lake Charles. This statement is consistent with Mayor Hunter’s assertion that law enforcement in the area has not received any intelligence supporting these claims.

In light of these statements, it appears that the rumors circulating on social media are unfounded. The public is urged to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activity to the authorities, but there is no evidence to suggest that illegal aliens are being bussed into Southwest Louisiana.
