New Internet and Television Service Provider Coming to Southwest Louisiana

Lake Charles, Louisiana – On September 8, 2021, internet and TV service provider VEXUS Fiber announced that they will be bringing their television and internet services to Southwest Louisiana. This announcement came during a press conference with the Southwest Louisiana Economic Development Alliance and included the mayors of local cities Lake Charles, Sulphur, and Westlake. Vexus Fiber is a Lubbock, Texas based company and serves small and medium-sized cities in Texas and Louisiana.

VEXUS fiber is a 100% fiber broadband company and plans to invest $50 million in Southwest Louisiana to build a 100% fiber network. The fiber network is intended to deliver very high-quality service, with symmetrical speeds of 1Gbps and higher, with up to 10Gbps service capabilities.

In the press conference, Vexus Fiber President & CEO James Gleason talked about bringing an office to Lake Charles that will serve the surrounding areas, saying that Southwest Louisiana has a clear need for another provider.

The engineering process for the network buildout will start in October 2021 and is expected to take about 4-5 months.  Construction of the fiber network will begin later in 2022, and it will take approximately 30 – 40 months to build the network for the Southwest Louisiana area.
