New Center to Help the Homeless Coming to the Area
The Beacon Center to Provide – A Hygiene Center for the Homeless
The Beacon Center is coming to Calcasieu Parish. The Beacon Center is a non-profit organization that is looking to help the local homeless population with a place take care of their personal hygiene needs and clean their clothes. They are currently having meetings, looking for volunteers and taking donations to prepare for their planned opening date of July 2, 2018.
The mission statement on their Facebook page:
“It is the mission of the Beacon Center to provide a clean and safe day facility for homeless individuals where they will find provisions to take care of their personal hygiene needs such as showers, restrooms, and laundry. We strive to improve the mental and physical quality of life of the homeless by recognizing the innate dignity of each individual and by showing the love of Christ through our actions. “
