Multiple Louisiana Teens Arrested After Crashing Stolen Vehicle in Alexandria
Alexandria, Louisiana – Multiple Louisiana teens have been arrested after crashing a stolen vehicle in Alexandria.
The Alexandria Police Department stated on June 22, 2023, that on June 21, at 06:00 AM, officers responded to a report of a stolen vehicle in the 2400 block of Midway Drive. The vehicle was described as a brown 2007 GMC Sierra.
At 07:45 PM on June 21, 2023, Alexandria Police Department dispatch received a call from the owner of the stolen vehicle reporting that they were following the vehicle on Masonic Drive. The location of the vehicle was relayed by dispatch to patrol units in the vicinity, who immediately located the stolen vehicle.
Patrol officers noticed a 2007 GMC Sierra turn northbound onto Texas Avenue and accelerate quickly. The responding patrol units tracked the stolen vehicle and reportedly observed several traffic offenses, including running two red lights and traveling at high speeds.
The driver of the stolen vehicle eventually lost control, exited the road, and collided with a telephone pole at Texas Avenue and Levin Street. Deshawn West, 19, of Alexandria, Louisiana, was arrested and charged with Stolen Things, Negligent Injuring, Cruelty to Juveniles, Aggravated Flight from an Officer, Child Restraints, and no driver’s license.
Two teenage passengers in the stolen vehicle, a 17-year-old Alexandria, Louisiana resident and a 16-year-old Alexandria, Louisiana resident, were arrested and charged with Possession of Stolen Things.
A 19-year-old female passenger had minor injuries and was sent to a nearby hospital. A 3-year-old passenger suffered minor injuries and was also sent to a nearby hospital.
