Multiple Arrests Made in Louisiana in Connection with Investigation into Suspects Linked to Several Fentanyl Overdose Deaths
East Baton Rouge Parish, Louisiana – Multiple arrests have been made in Louisiana in connection with an investigation into suspects linked to several fentanyl overdose deaths.
The East Baton Rouge Sheriff’s Office (EBRSO) revealed that in January 2023, EBRSO Narcotics initiated an investigation of persons suspected of being linked to many fentanyl overdose deaths in East Baton Rouge and Ascension parishes with the cooperation of EBRSO Homicide.
EBRSO Narcotics reportedly performed hundreds of hours of monitoring and many controlled purchases of pressed fentanyl pills during the investigation. Four search warrants and two arrest warrants were acquired as a result of this investigation, and they were executed on March 14, 2023.
Among the drugs and firearms seized during the investigation are over 5,000 pressed fentanyl pills, 1 pint of promethazine syrup, 174 dosage units of Xanax/Alprazolam, 24 dosage units of Clonazepam, 4 pounds of marijuana, 5 ounces of THC edibles, Over $4,000 (pending seizure, Glock handgun (9mm), Glock handgun (9mm), Glock handgun (.40 cal), Tec-9 “handgun” (9mm), Geisselle AR-15 rifle (.556), Anderson Arms AR-15 rifle (.556), Mini Draco rifle (7.62 cal), Canik handgun (9mm), S&W handgun (.22 cal), Stoeger Llama handgun (9mm), and Numerous high capacity magazines.
Kane Rogers, 24 was taken into custody in Ascension Parish and booked as a Fugitive for Distribution of Schedule II (Fentanyl), Possession with intent to distribute CDS Schedule I (Marijuana), Possession of a Firearm with Drugs, Possession of a Firearm by a Convicted Felon, and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia.
Gearold Delone 23, was arrested and booked for Distribution of Schedule II (Fentanyl) (2 counts, affidavit warrant), Possession of a Firearm by a Convicted Felon (affidavit warrant), Possession with intent to distribute Schedule I (Marijuana), Possession with intent to distribute Schedule II (Fentanyl), Possession with intent to distribute Schedule IV (2 counts) (Alprazolam and Clonazepam), Possession of a Firearm with Drugs, Possession of a Firearm by a Convicted Felon, and Illegal Use of CDS in the Presence of Minors.
Jayden Joiner 21, was arrested and booked for Possession with intent to distribute Sch. I (Marijuana), Possession of a Firearm with Drugs,and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia
The East Baton Rouge Sheriff’s Office indicated that a large portion of this case was made possible by the Fentanyl overtime funding provided by the State via Senator Bodi White.
Assisting Divisions in the Operation
Divisions assisting in the operation included EBRSO SCAT, EBRSO Intelligence, EBRSO Homicide, DEA Task Force, Central Police Department, APSO Narcotics, CBP/HSI Air Support, and
National Guard Air Support.
An arrest is an indication that probable cause exists to believe the subject was involved in the offense alleged. A person is presumed innocent until proven guilty.
