Multi-Jurisdictional Drug Task Force in Louisiana Arrests Man Suspected of Possession of Synthetic Marijuana, Crack Cocaine, and Other Crimes

Natchitoches, Louisiana – A multi-jurisdictional drug task force in Louisiana has arrested a man suspected of possession of synthetic marijuana, crack cocaine and other crimes.

The Natchitoches Multi-Jurisdictional Drug Task Force (NMJTF) reported on March 13, 2023, that on March 10, officers assigned to the Natchitoches Police Department patrol division stopped Daniell Thomas, 32, for a traffic violation. During the traffic stop investigation, Thomas allegedly told officers he had a couple of grams of suspected marijuana in the vehicle he was driving.

Members of the NMJTF arrived to give assistance. Officers allegedly discovered a firearm, suspected Oxycodone, suspected Roxycodone, and $8,758.00 cash when searching the vehicle.

Following his arrest, Thomas was sent to the NMJDTF for questioning. Agents were able to acquire a search warrant for an address suspected to belong to Thomas during the post-arrest investigation. Authorities got a signed warrant to conduct a search of the home.

During the course of the investigation, Agents reportedly discovered approximately 1.5 pounds of suspected synthetic marijuana, 4 handguns, 2 high caliber rifles, approximately 20 grams of suspected marijuana, and several drug paraphernalia items.

Following the arrest and interview, Thomas was transported to the NPDC. While being processed into the NPDC, Thomas was found to be in possession of suspected crack cocaine.

Subsequent to the investigation, Thomas was charged with 2 Traffic violations, Possession with intent CDS I (synthetic marijuana), possession of CDS II (crack cocaine), possession of a firearm in the presence of CDS (2 counts), possession of CDS II (roxycodone), possession of CDS II (oxycodone), possession of CDS I (marijuana), possession with intent CDS I (marijuana), possession of drug paraphernalia, and Introduction of contraband into a penal facility.

An arrest is an indication that probable cause exists to believe the subject was involved in the offense alleged. A person is presumed innocent until proven guilty.
