Motorcyclist in Louisiana Killed in Single-Vehicle Crash on LA 42 After Losing Control and Being Thrown From the Motorcycle
Livingston Parish, Louisiana – A motorcyclist in Louisiana was killed in a single-vehicle crash on LA 42 after losing control and being thrown from the motorcycle.
On April 30, 2023, Louisiana State Police (LSP) stated that Troopers with Troop A began investigating a motorcycle crash on LA 42 at Pardue Road in Livingston Parish shortly after 1:00 p.m. Salvatore Caserta Jr., 51, of Maurepas, Louisiana, died as a result of the crash.
The initial investigation found that Caserta was driving a 2016 Indian Scout motorcycle west on Louisiana Hwy. 42, according to LSP. Caserta lost control of his motorcycle and exited the road to the right for unknown reasons. Caserta was ejected from the motorcycle as a result.
Caserta was seriously injured in the crash despite wearing a DOT-approved helmet. He was taken to a nearby hospital, where he was pronounced dead. A toxicological sample was acquired from Caserta as part of the continuing inquiry and will be analyzed. This crash is still being investigated.
Louisiana State Police said that drivers, whether on a motorcycle or in a vehicle, must make sound decisions while on the road. Following all traffic signs and signals, driving within the speed limit, wearing a seatbelt when riding in a vehicle, and never driving when impaired, drowsy, or distracted can frequently mean the difference between life and death.
