Motorcyclist From Texas Killed in Head-On Crash on LA 3000 in Iberville Parish
Iberville Parish, Louisiana – A motorcyclist from Texas was killed in a head-on crash on LA 3000 in Iberville Parish.
A motorcycle crash on June 30, 2023, in Iberville Parish, Louisiana, was investigated by Troopers from Louisiana State Police Troop A. The crash occurred on LA 3000, south of LA 76 (Rosedale Road), and sadly resulted in the death of Ronald Harter, a 66-year-old from Galveston, Texas.
Based on the preliminary investigation, it was found that Harter was operating a 2013 Harley Davidson motorcycle in a northern direction on LA 3000. Simultaneously, a 2022 Land Rover SUV was heading south on the same road. The exact reasons for the incident are still under investigation, but it was determined that Harter was unable to navigate a right-hand curve, causing him to veer across the centerline and collide head-on with the Land Rover. The collision resulted in Harter being thrown off his motorcycle.
Even though Harter was wearing a helmet that met the necessary standards, he sustained severe injuries and was declared dead at the accident site. The driver and passenger of the Land Rover were securely restrained and did not sustain any injuries in the collision. LSP indicated that there is no suspicion of impairment on the part of the Land Rover driver. As part of the continuing investigation, a sample of Harter’s blood will be taken and analyzed for any substances. The investigation into this crash is still ongoing.
When traveling on the road, whether on a motorcycle or in a car, it is important for drivers to make responsible choices. This includes following all traffic signs and signals, sticking to the designated speed limit, wearing a seatbelt in a vehicle, and avoiding driving while impaired, tired, or distracted. These actions can greatly impact one’s safety and possibly prevent a fatal accident.
