Mother of Juvenile Escapee in Louisiana Arrested After Allegedly Assisting Him in the Escape

New Orleans, Louisiana –The mother of a juvenile escapee in Louisiana has been arrested for allegedly assisting him in the escape.

Louisiana State Police (LSP) released an update on June 7, 2023, stating that the investigation into the escape and apprehension of Curtis Tassin continues. Detectives from the LSP Criminal Investigation Division – New Orleans Field Office utilized various investigative methods and discovered that Kenione Rogers, Tassin’s mother, provided him transportation after he escaped from the Juvenile Justice Center. As a result, detectives obtained an arrest warrant for Rogers on June 5, 2023. The charges against her include Principle to Simple Escape, Accessory after the fact to Simple Escape, and Contributing to the Delinquency of a Minor. On June 6, 2023, Rogers was arrested in New Orleans, Louisiana, and booked into Orleans Parish Prison.

On June 1, 2023, Louisiana State Police reported that Curtis Tassin had escaped from custody while being transported to the Juvenile Justice Center in New Orleans on May 31st. The LSP Criminal Investigation Division – New Orleans Field Office worked diligently with other law enforcement agencies to locate Tassin’s whereabouts. With joint efforts from the New Orleans Police Department Special Operations Division on June 1st, Tassin was located in Algiers and taken into custody.

An arrest is an indication that probable cause exists to believe the subject was involved in the offense alleged. All persons are presumed innocent until proven guilty.
