Moss Bluff Shooting Leaves One Dead, Suspect in Custody; Calcasieu Parish Sheriff’s Office Investigates

Moss Bluff, Louisiana — The Calcasieu Parish Sheriff’s Office is investigating a fatal shooting that occurred Saturday afternoon in Moss Bluff. Deputies responded to a residence on South Perkins Ferry Road around 2:30 p.m., following a report of a shooting.

Upon arrival, deputies discovered one individual deceased at the scene. According to authorities, one person has been taken into custody in connection with the incident. The Sheriff’s Office emphasized that there is no ongoing threat to public safety, indicating that the situation appears to be contained.

The investigation remains in its preliminary stages, and officials have not yet released the names of those involved or the circumstances leading up to the shooting. Detectives are actively gathering evidence at the scene, interviewing witnesses, and working to determine the sequence of events that resulted in the fatality.

The Calcasieu Parish Sheriff’s Office stated that more information will be released as it becomes available.

An arrest is an indication that probable cause exists to believe the subject was involved in the offense alleged. All persons are presumed innocent until proven guilty.
