Moss Bluff, Louisiana – A 13-year-old Moss Bluff Middle School student was arrested on October 10 after allegedly making threats to “be the next school shooter,” the Calcasieu Parish Sheriff’s Office (CPSO) reported. The incident occurred at approximately 8:45 a.m. when the sheriff’s office received a call regarding a threat at the school.
During the investigation, detectives were able to identify the suspect as a student at Moss Bluff Middle School. Further inquiry revealed that the juvenile had indeed made the threatening statement. The student was subsequently arrested and booked into the Juvenile Detention Center on charges of terrorizing.
Terrorizing is a crime that involves threatening to commit a crime of violence with the intent to cause fear or alarm. In this case, the student’s threats were taken seriously by law enforcement, and swift action was taken to ensure the safety of the school community.
CPSO Detective William Vaughan led the investigation, with assistance from the Calcasieu Parish School Board. The school board’s cooperation was instrumental in resolving the situation quickly and efficiently.
The Calcasieu Parish Sheriff’s Office has not released any further information regarding the student’s motives or the circumstances surrounding the incident.
