Moss Bluff Man Dies in Fatal Crash on Theriot Road

Calcasieu Parish Sheriff’s Office investigated a fatal crash on Theriot Road in Moss Bluff Monday, April 26, 2021.
 
From the Calcasieu Parish Sheriff’s Office, Moss Bluff – Last night, April 26, 2021, at approximately 10:50 p.m., Calcasieu Parish Sheriff’s Office deputies responded to a single-vehicle crash in the 1300 block of Theriot Road in Moss Bluff.
 
The initial investigation revealed a truck was traveling north on Theriot Road at a high rate of speed when the driver, Cody E. Carpenter, 32, Moss Bluff, lost control in a curve and struck a ditch. The truck rolled multiple times, at which time Carpenter, who was not wearing a seatbelt at the time of the crash, was ejected from the truck. He was transported to a local hospital, where he was later pronounced dead. The passenger, who was wearing a seatbelt at the time of the crash, sustained minor injuries.
 
It appears speed may be the main cause of the accident but the investigation is still continuing. As mandated by state law, a toxicology report will be conducted on the driver.
