Morning Crash on LA 22 Claims the Life of One and Injures Two in Louisiana
Tangipahoa Parish, Louisiana – A Morning crash on LA 22 claims the life of one and injures two in Louisiana.
On July 24, 2023, just before 5:30 a.m., a deadly collision involving two vehicles was investigated by Louisiana State Police Troop L. The incident occurred on Louisiana State Highway 22, close to Dutch Lane, in Tangipahoa Parish. The victim was identified as 36 years old Karrie Brumfield from Kentwood, Louisiana who unfortunately lost her life in the accident.
Upon the first investigation, it was found that Brumfield was driving a 2010 Toyota Corolla westward on LA Hwy 22. At the same time, a 2009 GMC Yukon was traveling eastward on the same highway. For reasons that remain unclear and are still being investigated, the Toyota veered off its lane, crossed the median, entered the eastbound lane, and collided with the GMC.
Brumfield was restrained at the time of the crash but unfortunately suffered fatal injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene. The GMC’s driver, who was also wearing a seatbelt, suffered moderate injuries, while a passenger in the same vehicle, also properly belted in, had minor injuries. They were both taken to a nearby hospital. To support the continuing investigation, routine toxicology tests were conducted on samples taken from both drivers.
LSP emphasizes the importance of making smart choices when operating a car. It is crucial to avoid driving when under the influence, tired, or distracted, and to abide by all road rules. Additionally, ensuring that all passengers wear their seat belts correctly is essential. Although not every car accident can be survived, often following basic safety measures like these can be the determining factor between life and death.
