Lake Charles, Louisiana - Three people have been arrested in connection with a shooting that occurred in the early morning hours of June 21, 2025, at a restaurant parking lot on West McNeese Street in Lake Charles, Louisiana. The Lake Charles Police Department responded to the scene around 3:21 a.m. after receiving reports of gunfire and located a victim suffering from non-life-threatening gunshot wounds. Shortly after, officers learned that a second individual, also with non-life-threatening injuries, had arrived at a local hospital.

Investigators determined that a group had gathered in the restaurant’s parking lot when an altercation escalated, resulting in multiple suspects producing firearms and opening fire. During the exchange, two people were shot, and bullets struck both the restaurant building and nearby apartment units. Both shooting victims declined to identify who shot them, complicating the investigation.

On July 10, 2025, authorities arrested Derrick Keith Larcart, 20, who was one of the individuals shot during the incident. Police allege that Larcart initiated the gunfire. He faces charges including aggravated second degree battery, illegal use of weapons and dangerous instrumentalities, aggravated criminal damage to property, and illegal possession of a stolen firearm. His bond is set at $950,000.

Nearly a month later, on August 7, investigators arrested two more suspects in Jennings, Louisiana. Logan Heath Young, 23, was charged with possession of a firearm by a convicted felon, illegal use of weapons or dangerous instrumentalities, and aggravated criminal damage to property. His bond is $750,000. A 17-year-old juvenile was also charged with possession of a handgun by a juvenile, with a bond of $85,000.

The investigation is ongoing under the leadership of Detective Sgt. Kevin Hoover. Authorities urge anyone with information related to the incident to contact the Lake Charles Police Department at 337-491-1311 or leave an anonymous tip through the department’s mobile application.

An arrest is an indication that probable cause exists to believe the subject was involved in the offense alleged. All persons are presumed innocent until proven guilty.
