Monetary Rewards Issued for Public Crime Reports at Louisiana Operation Game Thief, Inc. Meeting

On October 12, 2022, the Louisiana Department of Wildlife and Fisheries announced that Louisiana Operation Game Thief, Inc. (LOGT), a Louisiana wildlife crime-stoppers program, awarded $3,000 to observant citizens statewide at their meeting on October 5 in Mansura, Louisiana.

The LOGT board analyzed six cases that contained public tips from informants. In relation to the reviewed cases, six persons were caught, and 727 offenses were written.

The cases reviewed and money paid to the public for their assistance included deer, alligator, and turkey cases.

Anyone with information about wildlife or fisheries violations should call the LDWF’s 24-hour toll-free Operation Game Thief hotline at 1-800-442-2511 or use the tip411 program. To participate in the tip411 program, text LADWF and their tip to 847411 or download the “LADWF Tips” iPhone and Android apps.

LOGT was established in 1984 and offers monetary prizes for information leading to the arrest of fish and wildlife legislation violators. Private donations, court-directed contributions, and contributions from cooperative endeavor agreements with groups such as the National Wild Turkey Federation and the Quality Deer Management Association are used to raise funds.
