Mississippi Man Arrested After Allegedly Robbing a Louisiana Pharmacy as the Cashier Attempted to Give Him Change

St John the Baptist Parish, Louisiana – A man from Mississippi was arrested after he allegedly robbed a pharmacy in Louisiana while the cashier was trying to give him change.

Roy Williams of Vicksburg, Mississippi, was arrested on May 4, 2023, in connection with the robbery of a drugstore in LaPlace, Louisiana, according to the St John the Baptist Parish Sheriff’s Office.

On May 4, 2023, around 12:30 p.m., deputies responded to a robbery at Walgreens on West Airline Highway in LaPlace, Louisiana.

Officers arrived to find a male subject, later identified as Williams, had entered the business and purchased a pack of Band-Aids. According to reports,  Williams then allegedly went over the counter and took the cash from the drawer when the cashier attempted to give him change.

Williams then departed the store, last seen driving westbound on I-10. Authorities indicated that no one was injured during the robbery.

The robbery was reported to nearby law enforcement agencies. Williams was later caught by deputies from the Ascension Parish Sheriff’s Office. The money taken from the business was allegedly discovered in Williams’ possession at the time of his arrest.

Williams was arrested and charged with simple robbery. He is now being held by the Ascension Parish Sheriff’s Office due to outstanding charges in Ascension Parish.

An arrest is an indication that probable cause exists to believe the subject was involved in the offense alleged. All persons are presumed innocent until proven guilty.
