Mississippi Driver Killed in Two-Vehicle Crash on I-12 After Veering Off Roadway and Colliding with Several Trees
St. Tammany Parish, Louisiana – A Mississippi driver has been killed in a two-vehicle crash on I-12 after veering off the roadway and colliding with several trees.
On March 14, 2023, Louisiana State Police (LSP) stated that shortly after 6:30 am, Troopers from LSP Troop L began investigating a two-vehicle fatal crash on Interstate 12 near US Highway 190 in St. Tammany Parish shortly after 6:30 a.m. Zuriel Pryor, 23, of Biloxi, Mississippi, was killed in the crash.
The initial investigation found that the incident happened when Pryor was driving a 2011 Scion westbound on Interstate 12. Meanwhile, a 2017 Ford Fusion was driving west on Interstate 12 in front of the Toyota. The Scion collided with the rear of the Ford for unknown reasons. Following the collision, the Scion veered to the left and collided with numerous trees.
Despite being securely restrained, Pryor died as a result of injuries sustained in the crash. On the scene, he was pronounced dead. The Ford driver was properly restrained and suffered minor injuries. Both drivers had routine toxicological samples taken and submitted for processing.
This crash is still being investigated.
Troopers want to urge drivers to always make wise decisions when driving. Never drive if intoxicated, fatigued, or distracted, and always obey all traffic rules. While not all car accidents are avoidable, simple precautions like these can frequently mean the difference between life and death.
