Middle School Student in Louisiana Arrested for Allegedly Bringing a Gun, Knife, and Ammunition to School in Lake Charles

Lake Charles, Louisiana – A middle school student in Louisiana was arrested for allegedly bringing a gun, knife, and ammunition to a school in Lake Charles.

The Calcasieu Parish Sheriff’s Office (CPSO) reported on April 21, 2023, that in the morning of April 20, detectives were summoned to F.K. White Middle School in relation to a student who was allegedly discovered to be in possession of an airsoft gun.

During the initial investigation, detectives learned that at approximately 9:00 a.m., a CPSO school resource officer (SRO) was notified by school administration that a 14-year-old boy was found in possession of an airsoft gun, kitchen knife, and.380 ammunition, as well as other airsoft gun accessories.

Following an additional inquiry, the juvenile was arrested and booked into the Juvenile Detention Center, where he was charged with carrying a dangerous weapon on school property by a student. Authorities indicated that the investigation revealed that the student never threatened anyone with the items in his possession.

Cpl. Triston Smith of the CPSO SRO is the arresting deputy in this instance. Detective Clay Planchard of the CPSO is the case’s principal investigator. The study was assisted by the Calcasieu Parish School Board.

An arrest is an indication that probable cause exists to believe the subject was involved in the offense alleged. A person is presumed innocent until proven guilty.
