McNeese State University Suspends Operations Amid Severe Weather, Plans for Late Start on May 7

Lake Charles, Louisiana — McNeese State University suspended all operations at 3:45 p.m. on May 6 and is planning a delayed start of operations on Wednesday, May 7, due to anticipated heavy rainfall and high winds forecasted for the next 24 hours. The decision affects all campus activities, with evening events expected to be rescheduled, according to university officials.

The move comes as meteorologists predict significant rainfall and gusty winds that could create hazardous conditions on and around campus. University administrators are working to ensure the safety of students, faculty, and staff by limiting exposure to severe weather. The National Weather Service has indicated that storms may result in localized flooding and difficult travel conditions.
