The first notification went out at approximately 2:50 pm today, March 21, 2018 and was titled: Press Release – Maplewood Traffic Conditions

Here’s what the notification said:

Per Mayor Chris Duncan, Chief of Police Lewis Coats, Fire Chief Dan Selph, Public Works Director Mike Daigle, and District 5 Councilman Stuart Moss:

Beginning today, Wednesday, March 21st, 2018, employees of the Sulphur Police Department, Sulphur Fire Department, and Public Works Department will direct traffic in the Maplewood area. The following conditions will be in effect between the hours of 4:00 PM and 8:00 PM, or while traffic congestion persists:

If you are traveling north on Cities Service Highway, you must provide valid reason (such as a home address or the name and address of who you are visiting) to enter the area. No thru traffic will be allowed. All diverted traffic will proceed north to Highway 90.

If you are traveling south on Cities Service Highway, you will not be allowed to turn left onto Maplewood Drive.

If you are traveling east on Maplewood Drive, you will be allowed to continue across Cities Service Highway to reach your destination.

These conditions are necessary to alleviate traffic congestion on Maplewood Drive. Traffic will continue to be monitored in the area and citizens will be notified of any additional changes.
