Sulphur, Louisiana – The City of Sulphur has issued a mandatory water conservation notice, effective immediately, due to extreme heat conditions. Residents are urged to conserve water until further notice to avoid a potential boil advisory.
According to city officials, water conservation is crucial in maintaining pressure in the water system, which has been strained by the recent heatwave. By reducing water usage, residents can help prevent a more severe water crisis.
To facilitate the conservation efforts, the city has implemented guidelines for watering yards and gardens, as outlined in Ordinance No. 520. Residents are advised to follow the schedule according to their street address:
- Odd-numbered street addresses can water lawns and gardens on Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Saturdays between midnight and 2:00 p.m.
- Even-numbered street addresses can water lawns and gardens on Wednesdays, Fridays, and Sundays between midnight and 2:00 p.m.
- Residences and businesses without street addresses can water lawns and gardens on Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Saturdays between midnight and 2:00 p.m.
Residents are encouraged to be mindful of their water usage and take necessary steps to conserve this precious resource. By working together, the city hopes to avoid issuing a boil advisory and maintain a stable water supply.
