Mandatory Evacuation Order Issued for the Town of Merryville, Louisiana and Surrounding Areas Due to Wildfire

On August 24, 2023, at 5:05 pm, the Beauregard Parish Sheriff's Office issued a mandatory evacuation order for the Town of Merryville, Louisiana, and the surrounding area due to wildfire approaching.

This notice affects all residents and businesses. BPSO indicated that the fire could reach town limits within one to two hours of this notice (by 6 p.m. or 7 p.m.). Buses will be at Merryville Town Hall for those who need transportation out of town.

Authorities ask that residents use caution when leaving town. The shelter will be located at the First Methodist Church in DeRidder Louisiana.
