Man Found Guilty of Robbing Lake Charles Casino and Other Related Charges

From the Calcasieu Parish District Attorney’s Office in Lake Charles, Louisiana – Quinton Dale Adams, age 39, was found guilty by a Calcasieu Parish jury of two counts of armed robbery with a firearm, one count of possession of a weapon by a convicted felon and one count of accessory after the fact of an armed robbery, on Friday, September 6, 2019, in the Fourteenth Judicial District Court, before the Honorable Robert L. Wyatt.

On March 3, 2016, Adams and two other armed males entered the Cash Magic Casino located at 108 Highway 397 in Lake Charles, and held the security guard at gunpoint while disarming him. The three proceeded to rob the casino clerk and the patrons inside the establishment before fleeing the scene in a dark colored Jeep Cherokee. After investigation, it was discovered that the Jeep Cherokee belonged to Adams. DNA evidence and additional video surveillance linked the defendants to the crime.

“I’m so thankful for the folks on our jury who heard lots of complicated evidence and were able to make the right decision, one that has brought a very violent defendant to justice,” said Charles Robinson, Assistant District Attorney.

Sgt. Chris Melendy and Lt. Beth McGee investigated the case for the Calcasieu Parish Sheriff’s Office.

The case was prosecuted by Assistant District Attorney Charles Robinson and Assistant District Attorney Taylor Alexander for the Calcasieu Parish District Attorney’s office. Adams was represented by Tara Hawkins.

Sentencing for Adams is set for November 22, 2019, before the Honorable Robert L. Wyatt. Prosecutors are seeking enhanced penalties under the habitual offender law. Due to the enhancement, the judge’s sentencing range will be from 66 to 198 years on each count of armed robbery with a firearm. Adams is ordered to be held without bond pending further order from the Court.
